Today, ornamental fish farming and keeping is one of the most popular hobbies in around the world. Goldfish is as one of the most common ornamental fish in Iran. The presence of these fish in Haft-Sin is an old tradition that has long been common in Iran. This study aimed to investigate the biological characteristics of Goldfish and its breeding potentials in Iran. A review of the data showed that Goldfish has wide distribution in the inland waters of Iran. This species due to high tolerance to adverse environmental factors, attractive color and variety is as one of the most popular ornamental species in Iran and other parts of the world. This study can provide useful information about the biological characteristics of Goldfish, including distribution, nutrition, growth, reproduction etc.
