The inland water fishes of Iran have a vast biodiversity. In the recent years some  Iranian Ichthyologists of  in some of universities studied more on inland water resources of Iran, , so they identified 8 new species of genus Aphanius  till 2006 to 2014. Species of Cyprinodontidae family are small fishes have beautiful dark and light bars, pigments and spots of colour, on the body. Most of them are resistant to the salt and all of them are native species.5 species of this family have been identified already in Iran. At present the numbers of them are 13 species in our country. Due to the size, shape, colour and design of bars and spots on the body, they are suitable to introduce as as ornamental fishes to keep them in the aquarium.
